Training philosophy: successful training is achieved by first demanding a specific level of performance for reward, then advancing reinforcement on a random basis whereby the expectation of a reward is ever present, even though the reward may not be given. However, the training is not complete until we integrate the concept of a correction into our program. The purpose of the correction is to put the dog in a position for praise or positive reinforcement for the correct behavior. Correction is not punishment. a correction is applied for deliberate disobedience in a situation where the dog clearly understands the command, has been trained to respond to it, and is not resisting out of fear or anxiety...in this event, the correction ie:voice, leash, collar is applied to the extent necessary within the dog's threshold in order to get the desired response. The training becomes complete because the dog has learned to respond when asked, or when it has to ~ not when it wants to. The end result is a well rounded pet that is confident and accepts the owner's authority without any problems. |
